If you can see ๐ the back ๐, you can take the back!
How to create scenarios where I can SEE the back of my opponent
Hey there!
In this new issue, we're diving headfirst into a fundamental concept that can make all the difference in your grappling game:
"If you can see the back, you can take the back !"
It's a simple yet powerful principle that can lead to breakthroughs on the mat.
The question that naturally follows is: "How do we generate back exposure?" How do we create scenarios where we can SEE the back of our opponent? That's the puzzle we'll be unraveling together.
How to generate back exposure:
If I can see the back I can take the back. Based on this, โback exposureโ means how to make my opponent show me parts or the entirety of his back.
3 Visual Queues:
Here are the three golden gateways to your opponentโs back:
Now letโs dive into each one sepparately!
1. Head Position:
The first visual queue is head position and particularly head height: Making their head height inferior to ours:
If their head is lower than yours, thatโs the first gateway to the back.
Without being naive! Please donโt give them your legs.
2. Elbow Position:
The second visual queue is the position of their elbows.
I cannot take his back if Iโm between his elbows.
If I am outside of the space between his elbows, thereโs back exposure and an opportunity to take the back:
There are 2 critical scenarios or ways to beat your opponentโs elbows:
When in front of them you can beet the elbows by employing elbow (arm) drags, elbow posts:
Side on to each other with Underhook/Whizzer:
If you get to this position, the only thing between your opponentโs back and yourself is the arm thatโs overhooking your arm.
There are many ways to beat this.
3. The Space Between their Knees: Inverted Attacks:
If you manage to get between their knees, youโll be able to see the back and, therefore youโll be able to take the back:
Thatโs it for this weekโs issue.
How can you apply these principles and add them to your game? Thatโs when you need to start testing from scenarios!

Iโll give all the premium subscribers access to all the notes in the future (Itโll probably take me more than a month to watch and get notes for the whole DVD, so be patient)
Thanks! And have a great week!
